Stories from Breda - An Escape Room Concept
Stories from Breda is an escape room concept I developed during my graduation period for my game design studies.
The escape room involves a group treasure hunting for a criminal's treasure, before they get saved from the cellars underneath an old town hall.
The escape room
Though the goal of this project was to develop a working concept, for me the process was more important than the results. This was my first experience designing an escape room, and as I discovered rather fast, I had to use my game design knowlegde in a lot of different ways than I was used to
The escape room concept would be located in the cellars underneath the old city town hall of Breda, the Netherlands. Some of these cellars date back to the 15th century, and had many interesting stories connected to them. That is why I chose that particular location, despite the fact that the location is a cultural heritage site,
A group of people would get locked up within the cellars after a power outage. While waiting to get rescued, the group would get the chance to look for the treasure of Adriaan van Campen, an infamous criminal who supposedly was locked up in these cellars just before he was executed.
The group encounters many other interesting stories Breda has to offer, and have to solve puzzles related to these mysteries.
